Harbor House Seafood
Harbor House Seafood was incorporated in 1985 by partners Mark Bryan and Gary Colbourne. Both individuals were born and raised on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, went to school together and later started working on the water together. In 1985 they purchased the existing business from Garys brother. Harbor House Seafood uses the vast resources of the bay when their fleets harvest in the deepest parts of the Maryland & Virginia Waters. The cold clean water gives their seafood its world renowned rich taste, assures purity, and a longer shelf life.
Harbor House Seafood purchased another oyster shucking house in October 2007, in Port Norris, New Jersey. This is the only shucking house in existence in the state. They harvest out of the Delaware Bay from their own private beds, utilizing their own fleet of boats in addition to some private boats. They are continuously rotating and planting seed oysters from these beds. They work hand in hand with Rutgers University Marine and Biology Group which is adjacent to the shucking house for guidance on ways They can effectively improve the environment. In addition they also work with the state in re seeding their beds. They will reseed approximately 100,000 bushels of shells back into the bay to replenish their oyster beds.
